Normative Instruction 2003

The Receita Federal Normative Instruction 312/2003 which is already in force amended the articles 12 and 15 of Normative Instruction 200/2002 that mandated the requirement of registration in CNPJ - Cadastro Nacional de Pessoas Jurídicas, of all foreign companies which possess goods and/or rights subject to public registration in Brazil.

As per the new article 15 an “EXEMPTED” CNPJ status will be granted to those foreign companies which are already registered in the CADEMP - Cadastro de Empresas do Banco Central do Brasil.

A 180-day-period is given to the companies to send all the documents required as per the Normative Instruction 200/2002 to the Coordenação Geral de Administração Tributária da Secretaria da Receita Federal.
