Business Council
Minister for Development and Trade, Mr. Sergio Amaral, visited India in April 2002. A powerful 41-member business delegation accompanied the Minister on his visit to India. During the visit, first meeting of India-Brazil Business Council was held at New Delhi. The Brazilian side mentioned that the large visiting delegation of Brazil was the symbol of interest of Brazil in the economic cooperation in areas of trade and joint ventures with India. Brazilian side stated that Brazil has identified India among the seven priority countries in their trade policy and expressed the hope that IBCC will achieve the real objective of promoting trade and investment between two countries. The Indian side expressed the pleasure over the visit of the Brazilian delegation and stated that India was keen to enhance trade with Brazil and sought the views of the members of the IBCC about the kind of mechanism to be adopted for more increased interaction on bilateral trade issues. It was agreed by both the sides that meetings of IBCC may be held once in six months alternately in each other countries. Next meeting was agreed to be held in Manaus, Brazil in September 2002.
