MEMORANDUM OF UNDERSTANDING (MoU) FOR ACADEMIC EXCHANGE AND COOPERATION BETWEEN GOA UNIVERSITY AND THE FEDERAL UNIVERSITY OF RIO DE JANEIRO

Bearing in mind the strong ties of friendship between India and Brazil rooted in history, culture and common interest;

Considering the need to develop activities to enhance and enrich cultural exchange between India and Brazil in the context of the historical and contemporary relationship between the two countries;

Recognising the important role of the Universities in this field with the assistance of other cultural institutions of both countries;

 Goa University, a state university located in the city of Panaji, Goa, India and the Federal University of Rio de Janeiro, a central government university located in the city of Rio de Janeiro, Brazil, have agreed to the following:

1. Objectives

The present MOU aims at the following:

(i)         Joint undertaking of research projects, seminars, conferences, publications and other cultural activities through specific academic programmes;

(ii)        Exchange of students, teachers, and researchers through a system of scholarships and allowances within specific academic programmes;

(iii)        Exchange of scientific, pedagogical and technical information among the different departments and centres of both the universities, which includes the exchange of material, documentation and relevant methodology;

(iv)       Sponsorship for the creation of permanent programmes on each other’s cultural reality.

2. Areas of Co-operation

The areas of co-operation to be included in the present MoU are: Humanities, Social Sciences, Educational Sciences, Medicine, Engineering, Architecture, Law and Marine Sciences. The possibility of expansion to other areas may be considered whenever found necessary;

3. Specific Academic Programmes

The present MoU will be implemented through means of Specific Academic Programmes (SAP). Each SAP will include an objective, tasks to be carried out, schedule, costs and duration. Both parties may seek funds together or individually from external funding agencies.

4. Duration

The present MoU will come into force from the date of its signature and will remain valid for a period of five years. The MoU will be periodically reviewed and, if necessary, it may be revised. It may be terminated upon mutual consultation and consent between the two Universities, by giving six months notice by either side.  

This MoU is made in English and Portuguese, and both texts are equally authentic.

 MEMORANDO DE ENTENDIMENTO (ME) PARA A COOPERAÇÃO ACADÊMICA ENTRE A UNIVERSIDADE DE GOA E A UNIVERSIDADE FEDERAL DO RIO DE JANEIRO

Considerando as relações entre a Índia e o Brasil, fundadas na história, cultura e interesse comum e a necessidade de desenvolver atividades para a promoção e dinamização do intercâmbio cultural entre Índia e Brasil no contexto das relações históricas e contemporâneas dos dois países;

Reconhecendo a importância, nesta área, do papel das Universidades e de outras instituições culturais de ambos os países;

A Universidade de Goa, uma universidade estadual situada na cidade de Panaji, Goa, Índia e a Universidade Federal do Rio de Janeiro, uma universidade federal situada na cidade do Rio de Janeiro, Brasil, chegaram ao seguinte acordo:

1. Objetivos

O presente ME objetiva o seguinte:

(v)        Realização conjunta de projetos de pesquisa, seminários, conferências, publicações e outras atividade culturais, através de programas culturais específicos;

(vi)       Intercâmbio de estudantes, professores e pesquisadores através de um  sistema de bolsas de estudo e outros benefícios, visando atividades acadêmicas específicas;

(vii)       Intercâmbio de informação científica, pedagógica e técnica entre os diversos departamentos e centros de ambas as universidade, o que inclui a troca de material, documentação e metodologias relevantes;

(viii)      Apoio à criação de programas permanentes sobre a realidade cultural do outro país.

2. Áreas de Cooperação

As áreas de cooperação a serem incluídas no presente Memorando de Entendimento são: Ciências Humanas, Ciências Sociais, Ciências da Educação, Medicina, Engenharia, Arquitetura, Direito e Oceonografia. A possibilidade de expansão a outras áreas pode ser considerada sempre que for do interesse das partes;  

3. Programas Acadêmicos Específicos
 
O presente ME será implementado através de Programas Acadêmicos Específicos (PAE). Cada PAE incluirá um objetivo, tarefas a serem realizadas, cronograma, custos e duração. Ambas as partes poderão obter recursos, em conjunto ou separadamente, junto a orgãos de financiamento externos.

4. Duração

O presente ME entra em vigor a partir da data de sua assinatura e permanecerá válido por um período de 5 (cinco) anos. O ME será periodicamente revisto e, se necessário, poderá ser emendado. Ele poderá ser extinto através de consulta mútua e do consentimento de ambas as universidades, após um anúncio prévio, de ambas as partes, seis meses antes da extinção.
